VOLUNTEER WITH US!
DC Shorts Volunteers are the heart of the festival! They make the festival fun, welcome our filmmakers, assist attendees and have fun doing it! Each year, we rely on the support of volunteers to make the festival a great success! There are opportunities to volunteer during the festival and all year long. As a volunteer you receive free festival t-shirt, earn free movie tickets or festival passes and complimentary tickets to screenings throughout the year. Get involved in the greatest film lover’s party in town!
HOW CAN I HELP?
We need volunteers in the following positions!
BEFORE THE FESTIVAL
Film Reviewers and Script Readers Needed! Do you like film? Can you articulate your opinion in a few carefully crafted sentences? Do you respect the opinions of others? Do you have the passion to watch and evaluate 30 to 40 movies, or read 10 to 20 scripts? If so, then you will make an incredible reviewer. This year, the DC Shorts Film Festival and Screenplay Competitions expect a record number of films and scripts to be entered! DURING THE FESTIVAL
Box Office / Theater Operations – Sales and distribution of tickets, including collecting cash, running credit cards, and end-of-shift reporting. Will be familiar with venues and films to answer questions from movie-goers. Box Office Volunteers will be trained on Ticketleap, our ticketing software.
Usher / Theater Operations– Assist in festival theaters collecting tickets and ushering as needed. You will be the face of the festival!
Event Production – Assist with the set-up, execution, and breakdown of events, receptions, and more.
Marketing and Promotions – Put up posters, distribute tickets to hotels, and otherwise help to market the festival leading up to and during the festival. VIP: Work closely with VIP pass holders during the festival to ensure they have an incredible festival experience!
Filmmaker and Patron Hospitality – Provide concierge services for filmmakers and their guests to ensure a superior festival experience.

VOLUNTEER ORIENTATIONS?
You only need to attend one orientation. If you are volunteering for more than one area, we will let you know at whichever orientation you go to the responsibilities of the other areas.

HOW DO I SIGN UP?
Please click HERE and register with Shiftboard, our online scheduler. Once your registration is processed, you will receive a welcome e-mail from us (check your bulk/spam/junk folder!) that will include your new password. You may then access your account where we will assign you to your volunteer team and specific shifts, as well as sharing general information about volunteering with DC Shorts.
